Casper Sakstrup

Hi and welcome to my site. I am a political scientist who studies armed conflicts and international politics. The overall aim of my research is to advance our understanding of war and peace, and ultimately lay the ground for improved conflict prevention policies. I currently focus on three topics: Historical determinants of present-day conflicts, microfoundations of international relations and political violence, and autocratic security politics. My research has been published in Comparative Political Studies, The Journal of PoliticsJournal of Peace ResearchGovernment and Opposition, and International Journal of Public Opinion Research. I received the PhD degree in Political Science from Aarhus University in 2019, and I currently work as a Postdoctoral fellow at Aalborg University. Besides research, I am passionate about travelling, old cars and motorbikes, and sailing.
